Email: Acceptable Use Policies
In support of the educational mission of the Episcopal Divinity School, EDS Library and Information Services provides email access for all faculty, staff, and students with a valid EDS ID card.
MAINTAINING A POSITIVE COMPUTING ENVIRONMENT DEPENDS UPON ALL USERS’ RESPONSIBLE AND ETHICAL USE OF COMPUTER SYSTEMS AND RESOURCES AS OUTLINED BELOW.
Email in General
- The standard email box size is 125mb for faculty/staff and 40mb for students.
- A warning message is triggered automatically when total email box size reaches 115mb for faculty/staff and 35mb for students. Once the maximum email box size is reached, it will not be possible to send email (although incoming mail will continue to be received) until the mailbox size is reduced. To avoid this inconvenience, please delete unneeded mail in your Inbox as well as in your Sent and Deleted Items folders as soon as the warning message appears.
- Email accounts are closed when one is no longer an EDS student or when one leaves the employ of EDS or the EDS Library.
- Remote access to email is available using Outlook Web Access (http://mail.edswjst.org) and all policies regarding proper use of email apply.
Proper Use of Email
Users are liable for any/all activity on their accounts. All relevant federal and state laws apply as do the relevant polices of EDS and the EDS Library as written in their personnel and student handbooks.
USERS FOUND TO BE ENGAGED IN IMPROPER USE OF EMAIL ARE SUBJECT TO THE REVOCATION OF EMAIL/COMPUTING PRIVILEGES.
Though offered primarily as an educational resource, the use of email for modest amounts of personal mail is allowed.
The following are considered improper uses of email and are prohibited:
- Transmission of threats, harassment, defamation, obscenity or pornography.
- Disguising/impersonating email identity.
- Account/password sharing i.e. giving other people access to your email account without proper administrative authorization.
- Initiating or forwarding chain letters or bulk emails.
- Spamming.
- Copyright infringement.
- Using accounts for commercial purposes or personal financial gain.
- Knowingly engaging in activities which compromise computer security or disrupt services.

Computer Center: Acceptable Use Policies

MAINTAINING A POSITIVE COMPUTING ENVIRONMENT DEPENDS UPON ALL USERS’ RESPONSIBLE AND ETHICAL USE OF COMPUTER SYSTEMS AND RESOURCES AS OUTLINED BELOW.
Available in the Computer Center:
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Laser printing
- CD Burners/DVD drives
- Library catalog and online resources
- Access to Blackboard courseware for technology enhanced courses
- High speed Internet connectivity
The PC’s in the computer center…
- Are available on a first come first served basis unless they are reserved for instruction.
- May be reserved by faculty or staff for classroom instruction.
Please be considerate! If you are not doing academic work and the facility becomes full, please yield your computer to anyone needing to do academic work.
The following are not permitted in the Computer Center:
- Tampering with, altering the settings, moving, or reconfiguring the hardware or software available in the Computer Center.
- Installing any software onto computer systems from media or from the Internet.
- Duplicating or downloading copyrighted material/software.
- Using the computer to create, store, display or transmit obscene messages, images, or sounds.
- Loud, disruptive talking.
- Food and beverages.
USERS FOUND TO BE ENGAGED IN IMPROPER USE OF COMPUTER CENTER FACILITIES ARE SUBJECT TO THE REVOCATION OF COMPUTING PRIVILEGES.
Two CD Burners and one Zip Drive are available for check out from the Circulation Desk…
- For registered borrowers of the EDS Library holding a valid EDS ID card.
- For use in the computer center and may not be signed out overnight.
- Must be returned to the Circulation Desk 15 minutes before closing time.
- Borrower assumes full responsibility for the unit until it is returned and will be charged the full replacement cost of the unit if it is unreturned or lost.
Saving and printing
- If you are an EDS network account holder, you can save your work to your account.
- If you do not have an account on the network, you can insert a floppy disk in the A drive, or you can burn your files to a CD to copy and save your work. You will not be able to save to the hard drive.
- Label your disks with your name to avoid losing/misplacing them.
- Printing is managed through a Pay-for-Print system for which copy cards are available for purchase in the vending machine in Sherrill Hall lobby. The cost is 10 cents per page.
- Discard your unwanted printed copies in the paper recycling bin.
- In case of jammed paper, low toner, printer problems, or other technical difficulties, please notify ITSupport@edswjst.org.

Hours of Operation:
Computer Center hours are the same as Library hours, but the Center closes 15 minutes before the final Library closing time.

Audio-Visual Services and Policies
EDS Library and Information Services provides audio-visual services in support of classroom learning as well as for other special programming needs on campus.
USERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PROPER CARE AND USE OF ALL AV EQUIPMENT OR MATERIALS BORROWED, AND MY BE HELD FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT OF ANY ITEM WHICH IS LOST, DAMAGED, OR STOLEN WHILE ASSIGNED TO OR BORROWED BY THEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THE FOLLOWING POLICIES MAY RESULT IN THE LOSS OF PRIVILEGE OR USE OR ACCESS TO AV MATERIALS OR EQUIPMENT.
Equipment reservations made directly through EDS Library and Information services are restricted to the current faculty, staff and students of EDS.
ALL NON-AFFILIATED PERSONS--INCLUDING MEMBERS OF THE BTI--NEEDING TO RESERVE AV EQUIPMENT FOR USE ON CAMPUS MUST DO SO THROUGH THE DIRECTOR OF HOUSING AND FACILITIESAT THE EPISCOPAL DIVINITY SCHOOL.
Requests are honored in the order in which they are recieved.
Depending on staff and equipment availability, we reserve the right not to fill last-minute requests.
EDS faculty and staff members may schedule equipment for use off campus.
EDS students invovled in off-campus presentations for EDS may schedule equipment for use off campus.
Equipment is scheduled for a maximum of 24 hours at a time unless arrangements to extend the use have been made in advance.

User's Responsibilities:
- Please submit requests for equipment (Monday-Friday) 48 hours in advance. If you wait until the last minute, we may not be able to fulfill your request.
- Submit requests using the online AV Reservation form.
- Pick up and return equipment. Library staff members do not deliver/set up equipment.
Charge out reserved equipment at the EDS Library Circulation Desk no later than one half-hour before the library closes and, when finished, check it back in at the Circulation Desk no later than one half-hour before the library closes. Note: for certain large, awkward pieces of equipment, the EDS Buildings and Grounds crew will be contacted for help with set up.
- At all times, properly use and care for any equipment or materials which you borrow or which someone else borrows for you.
- Please notify the EDS Library as soon as possible, of any schedule changes which would result in the cancellation of an equipment reservation.
- Arrange for the security/lock up of equipment that must be kept past the closing time of EDS Library.

Monday-Thursday: 8:00 a.m.-9:30 p.m.
Friday: 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Saturday: 10:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (pick up and/or returns only)
Sunday: 2:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m. (pick up and/or returns only)
Hours vary during semester breaks and in the summer, and are posted on the Library's website.
