Special Borrower Cards are available to persons who fall into one of the following categories:
- EDS/WJST Alumni
- Area clergy
- Members of Boston Theological Institute schools with valid I.D.'s
- EDS/WJST Visiting Scholars (Persons proposed in writing by EDS/WJST deans or presidents)
- Participants in EDS/WJST summer programs, persons auditing EDS/WJST classes, or non-admitted EDS/WJST students
Cards will be issued for up to one year, expiring on June 30th following the date of issue. Cards issued on or after April 1st in any year will expire on June 30th of the next year.
Renewals of Special Borrower's Card are made in person at the Library's Circulation Desk. Persons who have outstanding fines or bills for replacement of items will not be eligible to renew their cards until such accounts have been settled.
Special Borrowers do not qualify for interlibrary borrowing privileges.
Circulation Policies:
- All items, except videos and DVD's, circulate for 28 days, renewable two times before they must be returned to the circulation desk. Videotapes and DVDs have a one-week circulation and may also be renewed twice (if not requested by another patron). [See "Renewals" below.]
- If an item becomes overdue, two overdue notices will be followed by a bill for replacement of regular circulating items.
- · A replacement bill will be sent about 30 days after the due date if the item has not been renewed or returned. The replacement bill will include a $40 fee for the item (the fee may be higher if the cost of the item is greater), plus a $10 fee for processing costs. If the overdue items are returned after a bill is sent, the cost of the item will be credited, if it has not already been reordered or replaced. However, the $10 processing fee will remain.
- Once such a bill has been issued, no further borrowing is permitted until the account has been settled.
- For reserve items, an overdue fee of $1.00 per hour will be charged.
- If recalled for reserves or another user, the due date is changed to 7 days from the point of recall (minimum guaranteed loan period is 10 days); $1/day fees are charged after the new due date.
- There is a limit of ten items at a time that may be charged out to a Special Borrower.
- Special borrowers who incur excessive fees or item replacement charges may be denied borrowing privileges.
- See Policies Applicable to All.
